If you like Bruce Springsteen…
I had an idea for all the people who think the music these days sucks. There are still great bands out there making great rock n roll, you just may have to look for them. So, I thought I would help. From time to time, when a newer band reminds me of a great older group, I’m going to post it for you. The Hold Steady is a Brooklyn based band but most of its members are from the Twin Cities. They often get compared to Bruce Springsteen and allegedly were inspired to form their band after watching The Last Waltz (the 1976 “farewell” concert and film of The Band.) This is “Stuck Between Stations” from their 2006 record, Boys and Girls of America. Their new album is entitled Stay Positive. If you like The Boss you may also like The Hold Steady. ..

Yes, some love for the Hold Steady.
Stumbled upon “Separation Sunday”, their 2nd album from 2005 a couple years ago and fell in love with it…a masterpiece.
And Billy D. played “Sequestered in Memphis” a couple weeks ago on his show based upon a recommendation.
Made the trek down to Philly to see them at Penn’s Landing back in June for the “Paul Green School of Rock” Festival. The headliners were Devo, a surprisingly good show.
In addition to Bruce, being from Minneapolis, there’s also some Replacements influence in their music, as well as a dash of Thin Lizzy tossed in for good measure.
